UPDATE: Person Killed in Pre-dawn Crash Was 59-year-old Woman
A 59-year-old woman was killed this morning in a three-vehicle crash at South Robertson Street near Rudy's Restaurant on Loop 323, according to Donald Martin, Tyler Police public information officer. Her identity has not yet been released, officials said.
According to reports from the scene, the woman ran a red light at Robertson and Loop 323, hit a pickup truck head-on, jumped the median, and hit another pickup truck head-on. The woman got out of her vehicle, and then collapsed, according to initial reports.
Emergency radio traffic monitored at the Tyler Paper office indicated that a woman was found outside of her car unconscious. At 6:53 a.m., radio transmissions indicated she was being taken to a Tyler hospital. At 7 a.m., a radio transmission indicated another person was being transported to a hospital. The second person, also not identified at this time, is still being treated, according to reports.
