September 7: Have The Palins Done Right By Family?
What family values? Four months from now Sarah Palin, John McCain's vice presidential choice, will have a household comprised of the following: a husband who works full time locally; a wife who works full time in Washington; a newborn with Down Syndrome who has very special medical and parenting needs; a newborn whose parents are still children; a 17-year-old who obviously needs additional parental love and guidance; two other minor children who will probably be ignored as any available adult attention goes to the two newborns.
If you are a parent and your household is comprised of the above, would you agree to spend the next four or eight years flying around the country and the world and working long hours? Or would you and your spouse decide to curtail your careers for a few years, choose jobs where you can both be at home every night with your children, and give your family the support it needs?
What does it say about Sarah Palin's family values that she and her husband have so many minor children in need in their home, yet when John McCain asked her to accept the vice presidential nomination, the two Palin parents immediately said yes?
Being pro-life doesn't just mean that the mom and dad should support the child's right to be born. Pro-life also means that the mom and dad should support the child after he or she is born. Have the Palins done this?
