Football Roundup: No. 4 Arp Rips San Augustine
SAN AUGUSTINE -- LaVocheya Cooper rushed for 153 yards and racked up two touchdowns to hand San Augustine its first loss 56-13 Friday.

Cooper pounded a San Augustine defense that allowed Arp to punt just once the entire game.

After breaking Alto's 28-game winning streak last week, the Wolves (1-1) played second fiddle this time around to the No. 4 ranked team in the state in Class 2A.

Arp (2-0) compiled 378 total rushing yards -- 118 in the first quarter alone.

San Augustine's backfield -- its bread and butter last week -- couldn't find its ground against a stingy Arp defense that held the Wolves to just 100 total rushing yards. Fred Mosby tallied 50 yards on seven carries in the setback.

The Tigers' defense also swiped up three San Augustine fumbles.

That forced San Augustine to rely on its air attack.

Quarterback Darius Porter completed four passes -- one for a touchdown -- and one rushing in the second and third quarters.

But it was a little too late for a comeback.

Arp went for a knockout punch early, and didn't disappoint its fans.

The Tigers went up 28-0 in the first quarter lead and didn't look back.

Arp quarterback Will Allen completed seven passes for 107 yards and scored two touchdowns in the first-half offensive spree.

Grapeland 27, Grace Community 20
GRAPELAND -- Grapeland rallied past Grace Community.

Jared Murray's three TD passes of 25 and 12 yards in the final period as the Sandies scored the victory over the Cougars.
