Food Course Offered

Seasons of Taste: Black Tie To Black-Eyed Peas
The Texas AgriLife Extension Service is conducting the second annual traveling cooking school, Seasons of Taste. County Extension Agents will demonstrate recipes and provide useful tips to carry through fall and winter celebrations.
The "Seasons of Taste" event will be conducted at two different locations in the month of October. The first event will be Oct. 7 at 10 a.m. at the Farm Bureau Community Room, 281 E. Hwy 243 in Canton.
The second event will be Oct. 21 at 10 a.m. at the Hopkins County Civic Center, 1200 Houston Street (Hwy. 11) in Sulphur Springs. Each event will last until approximately noon with tasting of all dishes prepared included.
Attendants will receive a booklet with the demonstrated recipes as well as additional recipes and be eligible for door prizes. Demonstrations will cover Christmas Brunch, Buffet Meals/Entertaining, Light & Tasty/Low-Fat & Low Sugar, Holiday Kids/Kids in the Kitchen, and Quick Meals/Holiday Rush. The event promises to be fun and full of useful information for the upcoming holidays.
Early registration is $10, if received on or before Oct. 1; registration after Oct. 1 is $15. Registration forms are available through the Hunt County Extension Office at 903-455-9885 or Van Zandt County Extension Office at 903-567-4149. Decide which location will work best for you and register soon for the traveling cooking school. Each location has limited seating.

TJC Continuing Studies also offers Everyday Gourmet Cooking With Cafï¿© Tazza set for Oct. 16 from 6 to 8 p.m. The cost is $55, and the class will be held at the Meals on Wheels kitchen at 3001 Robertson Road.
