Cushing Bearkats: What to Expect
New Cushing head coach Glen Tunstall led Palestine High School the last four years. He steps into a tough Class A district after the Bearkats tied for third last year and missed out on the playoffs on a tiebreaker.
"We lost eight good seniors but this senior and junior class has really stepped up," said Tunstall, who took over a program in a 10-year playoff drought. "We're going to start some sophomores and some freshmen. We're in a new offense and defense from last year and doing very well. It may be district before we get all the kinks out of it."
The potential standouts include wide receiver/rover Jordy Gaddis, wide receiver/defensive back Jake Hunter, right offensive tackle Taylor Weitzel, right guard Thomas Simmons, twins Trapper and Hunter Kesinger on defense and at running back, and linebacker/receiver Clint Murdock.
