Grapeland Sandies: What to Expect
Grapeland will have plenty of senior leadership, including at the quarterback position. Jared Murray (6-2, 199) threw for 1,500 yards and 14 touchdowns last year, but he's looking to cut down on a high interception (18) total. Murray is also a four-year starter at defensive end.

The Sandies may be tailback-by-committee. One of those, Javontae McCoy, qualified for state in the 100-meter dash last spring.

The Grapeland defense appears stacked with linebackers Henry Faulk (120 tackles) and Kendrick Davis (100 tackles), Murray at defensive end and junior Ta'Coyus Walker at defensive back. Walker picked off seven passes as a ball-hawking sophomore.

Grapeland has one of the top linebackers in the district in Faulk (6-2, 185). Tall and thin for a middle linebacker, Faulk plays physical with great instincts that allowed him to make 120 tackles last season.

Coach Faigle says Faulk comes from good bloodlines in Grapeland. His cousin was an all-state quarterback a couple of years ago.
