Gardening Lecture Series Resumes
The monthly "First Tuesday in the Garden" lecture series, an educational program sponsored by the Smith County Master Gardeners, begins at noon Tuesday, Sept. 2, in the I.D.E.A. Garden at the Tyler Rose Garden.
This month's topic is "North Texas Winner's Circle." Master Gardener Sue Adee will discuss plants that have been given this designation due to their outstanding performance in three separate trial locations.
These plants have been tested at the Dallas Arboretum, Texas AgriLife Research and Extension Center in Dallas and Overton. Many of these plants can be seen currently growing in the garden.
This program is free, open to the public, and about an hour long. The I.D.E.A. Garden is located in the southeast corner of the Rose Garden with ample parking available outside of the southeast gate.
The "First Tuesday in the Garden" programs will continue monthly through November. The October 7th program will be "Fall Bulbs for Spring Color" followed by "Gardening Basics 101" on Nov. 4.
Master Gardeners, a volunteer organization of Texas AgriLife Extension, are people from all walks of life who enjoy and are dedicated to teaching others about gardening, plant diseases and pests.
