A burglary suspect whose car would not start was forced to leave it behind and run from police on foot, prompting a manhunt Monday morning.
Tyler Police Department officers were called to a home in the 2300 block of Alta Mira Street shortly before 11 a.m. after a neighbor reported a home was being burgled.
Before officers arrived, the suspect, described as an Hispanic male, ran into a wooded area of the neighborhood carrying a gun.
The Tyler Police Department's K-9 unit was called to the scene to help track the suspect, but authorities were unable to locate the man.
The vehicle he left behind, a blue Cadillac four-door, was seized by investigators for fingerprinting, police said.
In the trunk of the car, police found several televisions the suspect attempted to take from the residence. Authorities said they are still not sure if the suspect was able to run away with any other property.
