Tyler and Tyler ISD Police are among the agencies searching for a man who ran from authorities who tried to serve him with a probation warrant, and who may have armed himself.

Police told the Tyler Paper they are searching in the area of Paluxy Drive and Spur 248. Both T.K. Gorman Catholic School and Hubbard Middle School were notified that the man was believed to be in their vicinity. A Tyler ISD police official told the Tyler Paper that officials were ready to lock down Hubbard, but decided not to do so since the suspect is now believed to be out of the area.

Gorman Principal Jim Franz said the story was similar at his school on Loop 323.

"We were alerted about it this morning, and monitored it carefully," he said. "The way it was conveyed to us, this was not a person who was likely to do any harm, but rather a person who was looking for a place to hide. Coming here would not be the wisest move for someone looking to hide."

Franz added that the school has a variety of lockdown scenarios, but that this morning's situation was about the lowest on the spectrum. He said he also had been alerted that the suspect is believed to have moved beyond the vicinity of the school.
