Mild Temperatures Continue, Rain Likely
Unseasonably mild temperatures for mid-August continued in the area on Sunday, as an upper air storm system remained to the west and was still poised to bring general rain to the area this week.
High temperatures Sunday afternoon were several degrees warmer than on Saturday because of sunshine most of the afternoon, but were still 5-8 degrees below normal high temperatures for the day.
Maximum temperatures were from the middle 80s to lower 90s, with similar temperatures forecast for Monday, and lower readings for Tuesday and Wednesday when much of the area should be seeing rain.
Low readings Sunday morning were from the high 60s to middle 70s, and were near those of Saturday.
Overnight low readings through Wednesday morning should be similar to Sunday's.
Sunday's temperatures averaged about 3 degrees warmer than Saturday's, and were about 5 degrees below normal.
The week of August 10-16 saw temperatures average about 3 degrees below normal. These were 5 degrees lower than the previous week, and 8 degrees lower than the week of July 27-August 2 the hottest week of the summer.
Skies were mostly cloudy overnight and Sunday morning, and partly cloudy during the afternoon.
