Junior League Accepting Applications For Projects
The Community Coordinating Committee of the Junior League of Tyler Inc. is now taking applications for future projects which improve the community. The membership will be volunteering, along with the funds that are given, to the approved agencies, JLT Community Vice President Stacey Gregory said.
Past and present League projects have dealt with issues in arts and education, health, and youth and family.
"The League takes this process very seriously. We go through an intense process of approval for funding and placements for our membership. The interest of our volunteers will help determine the priority of these placements," Ms. Gregory said.
Funding comes from the League's fundraisers, Mistletoe & Magic, a holiday shopping market; Spring Sweep, a biennial rummage sale; the sale of the League's cookbooks and community partners.
Community project re-quests for 2009-2010 must be received on or before Sept. 1. Early submission allows for thorough research and investigation of proposed projects. Applications are available at the JLT office or on its Web site at www.juniorleagueoftyler.-org.
The JLT is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable.
The vision statement of the JLT is to commit its volunteers and resources to impact positively the present and future quality of life in the community.
