BULLARD — Newcomer Colby Tipton carded an 80 to grab the first-round lead of the Peach Tree-Oak Hurst Club Championship on Friday.

The opening round was played on the Oak Hurst course, but today’s action moves to the Peach Tree course in all flights.

Only three golfers entered the championship flight. Jeremy Chilek, the 2007 champion, dropped out.

Oak Hurst regulars Andy Fauss (82) and Kerry Baham (85) are also competing for the top trophy.

The tournament will wrap up on Sunday with all action on Oak Hurst.

Action will get under way today in five flights — four for the men and also a ladies flight.

Competing for the women’s trophy will be Betty Rinehart, Hince George, Mackie Meeks, Margie Wood, Kathleen Andrews, Denise Morgan, Joyce Hahn and Monalee Kuehn.
