MINEOLA — A Wood County Sheriff’s Office investigator has resigned following an arrest and subsequent charges of public lewdness.
“If he is guilty, this behavior should not be tolerated by any department or by anyone,” Wood County Sheriff Dwayne Daugherty said.
On July 17, Wood County Sheriff’s Office investigator Reginald Frost, 42, of Hawkins was arrested along with his 29-year-old girlfriend Jamie Sp-ence for public lewdness stemming from an incident that occurred at Lake Hawkins.
The pair posted $3,000 bond each less than 45 minutes after their arrest.
Sheriff Daugherty said Frost, a three-year veteran of the department resigned from the sheriff’s office shortly after the incident.
“The Texas Rangers have that case. Because it’s one of my own, we don’t even want to attempt to investigate it,” he said.
According to Wood County judicial records neither Frost nor his girlfriend has a criminal record.
“He’s never had any problems to my knowledge,” Daugherty said.
Public lewdness is a class A misdemeanor, and is punishable by a fine not to exceed $4,000, confinement for a jail term not to exceed one year or both.
