July 25: On Free Inquiry
Over 60 years ago Enrico Fermi, the "Father of the atomic bomb" asked: "Where is everybody?"
He asked the question because he, as most scientists, bought into the theory that the incredible complexity we see in our planet, galaxy and universe happened by accident and, therefore, must have happened elsewhere in this vast universe and there must be life out there with which we can communicate.
This is called "The Fermi Paradox!" Multi-millions of tax dollars have been spent sending signals into outer space in hopes of contacting "little green men." But not even one signal has been received that makes sense.
Since Fermi's query, many qualified scientists have come to question whether all we see and experience could have come about by accident (aka evolution). Many of these have PhDs in hard science curricula and have done much research in the arena of "origins." The preponderance of evidence points toward a power, much greater than we, which created the order we observe in the universe.
Many of these scientists are associated with the Institute for Creation Research, which recently moved its headquarters to Dallas.
Earlier this year they applied to the Higher Education Board for permission to grant Master of Science degrees in Texas, but due to the political power of the "Thought Police" (aka evolutionists), they, who are able to censor any questioning of "Darwin's Dogma" in our public schools, persuaded the board to deny permission. ICR has appealed.
Surely the First Amendment applies to minority opinion as well as the accepted party line. ICR should be allowed to research the ultimate question of "Origins" and grant degrees to those who complete a rigid course of study.
Everyone who agrees with free inquiry is encouraged to support this point of view by asking elected representatives to help in giving ICR permission to grant appropriate degrees.
