Dolly Brings Showers To East Texas
Two feeder bands from weakening Tropical Depression Dolly brought showers and thunderstorms to East Texas Thursday afternoon.

The first band entered the region at mid-morning. These showers had reached the Interstate 20 corridor by mid-afternoon, with the activity weakening north of I-20 because of drier air in the middle levels of the atmosphere.

The second band reached the southern counties by mid-afternoon. It was forecast to weaken near the I-20 corridor Thursday evening.

Another feeder band Wednesday evening brought 0.12 inch of rain to the city just before 8 p.m., with a trace at the Tyler and Longview airports.

Widely scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible south of I-20 this afternoon. This is because of daytime heating and the still-moist lower atmosphere. After that, the region should be hot and dry for much of next week.

Dolly had weakened to a tropical depression at 4 p.m. Thursday, and was situated about 35 miles west of Eagle Pass over Coahuila, Mexico. The system should dissipate today.

The remnant low pressure should continue westward, and no longer affect East Texas.

One of the forecasting models had suggested the remnant low would curve northeastward early next week and bring another chance for showers. That solution has been discounted.
