Scattered Storms Possible Today, Tuesday
A weak cold front was moving southeastward through the region Sunday afternoon, bringing a few showers and promising slightly lower temperatures. By 4 p.m., the cold front was approaching Tyler.
Scattered showers were in a 50-mile wide area centered roughly along Interstate 30. These, too, were moving southeastward, and could bring rainfall to about 40 percent of the area overnight and early Monday.
A strong thunderstorm at Linden brought 1.30 inches of rain, and lowered the temperature 25 degrees to 70 in one hour.
One severe thunderstorm developed around 6 p.m. about 10 miles east of Gilmer. It required a severe thunderstorm warning for parts of Upshur, Gregg, and Harrison Counties.
At 7 p.m., a line of strong thunderstorms were approaching Interstate 20 from the north.
With the remnant of the weakening front in or near the area through Tuesday, widely scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible both days.
At mid-week, upper air high pressure will build back in from the west. This should shut down shower development, and hold temperatures to near normal levels for the remainder of the week.
