Tyler Museum Of Art Closed For July 4 Holiday Today
The Tyler Museum of Art will be closed to the public today in observance of Independence Day, TMA Director Kimberley Bush Tomio said.
The Museum will resume its regular hours of operation Saturday.
The Tyler Museum of Art is located at 1300 S. Mahon Ave., adjacent to the Tyler Junior College campus off East Fifth Street.
Regular hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, and 1-5 p.m. Sunday.
Family Day on July 13
As the Tyler Museum of Art prepares to send its popular exhibition of animal paintings back “into the wild,” the Museum celebrates “Into the Wild: Animal Art from Caldwell Zoo” with a free Family Day program on Sunday, July 13.
The afternoon of “wild family fun” will feature gallery tours, refreshments, and an opportunity for the entire family to learn to paint animal-style, TMA Head of Education Katie Powell said.
Family Day events are scheduled from 2 to 4 p.m. at the TMA, 1300 S. Mahon Ave., adjacent to the Tyler Junior College campus. Admission is free, but reservations are encouraged by calling (903) 595-1001.
The July 13 program represents the final opportunity to view “Into the Wild,” organized by the TMA in partnership with Caldwell Zoo, as well as “Shadowboxes and Silhouettes,” the exhibition spotlighting the works and collecting of longtime TMA patrons Mildred H. Grinstead and Dede Menking.
“This will be your last chance to see both of these outstanding shows, so don’t miss these family-friendly exhibitions,” Ms. Powell said.
