Spagnola To Speak At Men's Luncheon
Veteran Dallas sports reporter Mickey Spagnola will share stories from more than two decades of covering the Dallas Cowboys during the Texas Rose Festival Men's Luncheon.
The luncheon, one of the longstanding traditions of the festival, is set for 11:30 a.m. Oct. 19 at Rose Garden Center.
Spagnola has spent much of his 32-year career in journalism covering the highs and lows of "America's Team," the Dallas Cowboys.
He can be heard on Cowboys pregame shows carried on Dallas SportsRadio 1310, "The Ticket." He also is a commentator on pregame programs aired on television stations that are part of the Blue Star Media, previously the Dallas Cowboys Broadcasting Network.
For 14 years, he has been sharing his expertise on the team in a weekly radio segment with Tyler sportscaster Davis Smoak aired on KTBB. He is also a contributor to the Web site DallasCowboys.com.
Previously he wrote for the Dallas Times Herald and "The Insider." A native of Illinois, he earned a journalism degree from the University of Missouri.
Tickets to the luncheon cost $35 and are available in advance only at Tyler Rose Museum, 420 Rose Park Drive or by calling 903-597-3130.
Luncheon sponsors are Cavender's Boot City, Denson Construction Co. and Martin Walker, P.C. Chris Simons, a Texas Rose Festival Association vice president, will preside over the luncheon. Co-chairmen are Sheila Berry and Susie Lofquist, Also on the committee is Stepehenie Roberts.
The Texas Rose Festival is a celebration of the area's rose growing heritage. Events are scheduled Oct. 18-21 in Tyler.
